This beaded pewter and gemstone necklace is almost 21.5 inches long. It is made of a variety of pewter beads with a gemstone and sterling silver pendant. I am not certain what this lovely gemstone is. The dealer that sold it to me thought it might be bloodstone, or possibly fancy jasper. This is a unique necklace with many textures and shapes. The pendant is a teal green oval gemstone cabochon set in a sterling silver bezel. It measures approximately 2 inches long by 1 inch wide.

Pewter is a soft metal alloy mainly comprised of tin, with copper, antimony, and other elements added for strength. Usually, pewter contains 85-99% tin. It may sometimes contain trace amounts of lead, and therefore, it is not suitable for children. Pewter is usually a silver or antiqued silver color, and it does not oxidize or tarnish easily. Pewter beads add character and depth to beaded jewelry.
