This one-of-a-kind fresh water pearl and mother of pearl necklace measures approximately 20.5 inches long. It is made of mother of pearl beads, peacock pearls, and pewter castings with a carved mother of pearl starfish pendant with a silver edging. The mother of pearl and silver starfish pendant measures approximately 45mm, or just over 1.75 inches. It dangles from a loop of mother of pearl beads and hangs three inches down from the center of the necklace.

Since mother of pearl comes from the ocean, some believe that it carries the power of that ocean. A nurturing stone, mother of pearl is said to relieve stress, calm the nerves, sooth the soul, and relax the body. It is thought to bring harmony to relationships, improve intuition, protect from negative energy, and even bring prosperity. The fresh water pearl is usually given for the first wedding anniversary, but some sources say that mother of pearl can also be given as a celebration of the first year of marriage. Mother of pearl is associated with the Zodiac signs of Gemini and Cancer.

Pearls are said to gift us with the serenity and tranquility of the ocean from which they came. They are thought to provide mental clarity, increase confidence, calm the mind, balance emotions, relieve stress, and ease depression. They are believed to promote trust and to foster loyalty, honesty, and goodwill. Pearls are one of the birthstones for the month of June, and they are the mystical birthstone for the month of November. Pearls are associated with the Zodiac signs of Gemini, Cancer, and Sagittarius. Fresh water pearls are given for the 1st wedding anniversary, and pearls, in general, are a gift for the 3rd, 12th, and 30th years of marriage. Pearl is the gemstone for the states of Kentucky and Tennessee.
